We have already come a long way on our STEM journey. Now we want to refine our STEM/PBL process. We want to take STEM from being its own separate entity to a more integrated system.
Our why changes everyday.... last week it was because we wanted to give students the opportunity to have a high paying career in STEM. Yesterday, it was because I saw the light go off in a "low achieving" students eyes. Turns out he was the most successful in his class. Today it is because our county supports innovation and is giving us opportunities to grow.
To echo Megan and in line with the thoughts of the keynote speaker, Dr. Matthews, we need to make this the stuff, not what happens after you finish the other stuff! I also want our students to know that we believe they are more than average...they are extraordinary! Giving them the opportunity to demonstrate this in unique ways is vital for them to believe in themselves! PBL and STEM fit that bill.
STEM has brought so much to our students...excitement, fun, and challenge! We want learn how to give them these opportunities more on a daily basis throughout the school!
